Your Partner
IOP Luxembourg is a Luxembourg-based Asbl and a registered NGO. It is managed by a board of 7 people representing a broad spectrum of skills and perspectives. Its governance is in line with Luxembourg law and best practice.
It runs a student sponsorship program in Luxembourg on behalf of IOP Tanzania (a Tanzanian NGO). It also raises funds through a range activities for various projects in Ilula, Tanzania. The most ambitious project undertaken is the Sunflower Montessori Primary School.
The Primary School
In 2016 IOP Luxembourg together with another Luxembourg NGO (CSI) embarked on a project to construct a top quality primary school on the IOP campus in Ilula, Tanzania. The project was co-financed by the Luxembourg Government (80%), IOP Luxembourg (15%) and local contribution (5%). The project reached completion in December 2019. The capacity of the school is 560 pupils for the full primary school cycle. Currently there are 210 pupils attending. The school is planned to be full in the next few years. The school is licensed by the local district and follows the Tanzanian approved curriculum. It benefits from relatively small class sizes, relatively high teacher ratios and an excellent learning environment. It is a beacon of educational excellence in an area which suffers from many challenges. With no support from the government of Tanzania, school fees whilst modest by European standards remain out of reach for the poorest children. This is where your company can make a difference.
